This is a collection of 50 public domain classics of literature (here referred to as MASTERPIECES), easily obtainable individually for free, but here gathered together in one bundle for your convenience. But is it REALLY convenient to obtain them this way?It isn't convenient if its large size causes a problem with the device you intend to download it to. (But it's fine on my Kindle Paperwhite.)It isn't convenient if you have trouble locating items within it. Yes, it has an active TOC, and while it's on your device, you can easily locate each title within it. But a year from now, when this bundle is in cloud storage (because it's much too big to perpetually keep on your device), will you be able to remember that this particular collection, out of the many you likely own, contains Homer's ODYSSEY? Or is THE ILIAD in this collection and THE ODYSSEY in some other? And, when you are searching for PERSUASION by Jane Austen, is that one here?The problem with jumbo bundles like this is that their specific content is not evident in their titles the way HOMER'S EPICS or THE COMPLETE WORKS OF JANE AUSTEN, or (better yet) the individual books themselves (THE ILIAD, THE ODYSSEY, PERSUASION) would be. There's no denying it may be convenient and time-saving to get 50 great works in one fell swoop, but thereafter, identifying and retrieving any particular one of them from among all your jumbo bundles can be a real nuisance.And the title of this bundle should logically just be 50 MASTERPIECES YOU HAVE TO READ. There's no need to add BEFORE YOU DIE to it, because you can only read these BEFORE you die; you obviously won't be able to read any of them AFTER you die. A collection of great books deserves a more dignified title to match the stature of its content.All that being said, the books ARE masterpieces and should be among those that anyone claiming to be educated should wish to read. The formatting is handsome, and the TOC is active.Currently a second collection of 50 more works (reflecting the second half of the alphabetical listing of authors included) is available. If you desire to obtain and read all 100 of the works listed in the Kindle Store blurbs for these two ebook bundles, by all means go for them both (especially while they're free or only $.99). They will provide many hours of pleasurable reading.My rating reflects the status of the included books; in most instances, each is a 5-star classic. Many of them you've probably already read and will undoubtedly wish to (someday) re-read, but some others may be new to you; those are the real treasures in this bundle. As to it being convenient or inconvenient, that's something you'll have to decide for youself.
